About Poison Ivey Art
Sara Ivey
Sara Ivey was born in Northern California, but was regularly relocated to accommodate her father’s job as a wildlife biologist. A shy child, Sara fell in love with reading, drawing and caring for various pets, preferring the company of animals to most other children. At a young age Sara was dazzled by the visual narratives at Disneyland; the themed lands held the same power as escaping into a book. Later travels to Hawaii cemented her fascination with escapism and exotica.

Sara studied art at Southern Oregon University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and a Master of Arts in Teaching. Themes in her work revolve around what she loves: Animals, tiki, the tropics, and diversion from the everyday. As well as making art of her own, Sara teaches high school art classes. She and her husband currently reside in Avondale, Arizona with their pets. They collect tiki mugs and escape to Disneyland and Hawaii every chance they get.

Poison Tiki Mugs
wheel thrown vessels with added sculptural elements
These mugs were created for a wedding reception and were sent home with guests.
Disney fans will notice some familiar faces
since some of them were inspired by the Tiki Room pre-show.
They are one of a kind and will never be for sale.
